Invitation to Apply

Details of current INTACCT vacancies are also available via the Marie Curie webpages.

Applications are invited for:

  • Early Stage (doctoral-level) Researcher Fellowships at selected Network partners.   Mobility of researchers within the Network will be encouraged. Therefore positions may be held at more than one of the network universities over the life of the Network.
  • Experienced (post-doctoral) Researcher Fellowships at Lancaster and Tilburg, short periods to 2010.

Applicants must satisfy the eligibility criteria defined under the Marie Curie Programme rules set by the European Commission. The eligibility criteria include a requirement that researchers must be nationals of a State other than that of the host organisation (university) where they will work. Further, they may not have resided in the country of their host organisation for more than 12 months in the last three years (excluding holidays).

All Marie Curie fellows, whatever the stage of their research, will work under the supervision of one or more of the specialist senior researchers affiliated with the Network. Fellows will also be expected to take full part in the Training Programme and other research activities organised by the Network and Network partners.

Candidates should pay careful attention to the eligibility and administrative requirements established by the European Commission (EC) for the Marie Curie Training Schemes. Find out more aboutMarie Curie eligibility criteriaPDF file icon.

Early Stage Researchers Researchers must have less than four years (full-time equivalent) of relevant research experience. You may be currently enrolled as a PhD student at a Network partner or other recognised institution. If not, you will be encouraged to simultaneously apply to enrol as a PhD student at one of the Network partners. Note that it is likely that some ESRs will undertake some/all of their research work at one partner university, while their PhD registration is at another partner university. The Network faculty Steering Group will ensure adequate PhD supervison arrangements in such cases.  ESRs will be appointed on fixed stipend or salaried fellowships, subject to local arrangements, with all contracts subject to national legislation requirements. Appointments will have a duration of between three and thirty-six months. Vacancies are available at all the Network partners. Successful candidates will have excellent academic records for their level of experience, and the ability to develop the research competences necessary to produce original research work that will eventually be publishable in the major international journals. Preference will be given to highly qualified ESR applicants who will be able to make a substantial commitment of time over the life of the INTACCT project to working on the Scientific Programme, probably as part of their PhD studies.

Experienced Researchers: Researchers must have within 4-10 years' (full time equivalent) of relevant research experience.  Opportunities for ER appointments are mainly for short (three month) periods at Lancaster or Tilburg.

Consistent with European Commission objectives, the INTACCT Network is committed to ensuring equal opportunities and promoting gender balance in the discipline of accounting research. Applications from women and from researchers from new EU states are particularly encouraged. Every effort will be made to agree working conditions that reflect individual personal circumstances. For example, part-time contracts may be considered where appropriate. The INTACCT Network is also committed to effective career development of its researchers. To this end the Network will establish plans defining training and transfer of knowledge needs and scientific objectives for each researcher appointed for more than six months. It will also operate a mentoring and monitoring system to ensure effective implementation of career development plans.
